Setting a Turkish breakfast table for four
A kahvaltı table is many small plates rather than one dish. This is the order to work in so the tea, the simit and the eggs are all ready together.
Shop the ingredients
Ingredients
- 200 g white cheese and 150 g tulum or kaşar
- A bowl each of black and green olives
- Kaymak with honey, and one or two jams
- 4 simit
- Sucuk and eggs (see our recipe)
- Tomatoes, cucumbers and green peppers
- Turkish black tea
Method
Start the tea first: fill the bottom of the çaydanlık with water, put the tea leaves in the top pot and bring the water to the boil.
Bake the frozen simit while the tea brews, following the time on the pack.
Slice the cheeses, put out the olives, kaymak, honey and jam in small bowls, and cut the vegetables.
Cook the sucuk and eggs last so the pan goes to the table hot, then pour the tea.
